St Michaels, Central Park victorious

In a battle between third and fourth on the ladder, St Michaels came home with the win against Kalkee in round six of the Central Wimmera Tennis Association pennant on Saturday.

The home side accounted for Kalkee 10-4.

They dominated in the doubles early on, with a clean sweep of Steve Schultz and Peter Hayes defeating Jordan Friberg and Luke Byrne (8-2) and Eli Bailey and Chris Ellis better narrowly than Grant Schultz and Matthew Magee (8-7) in men's, while Mia Rees and Kassie Peachey got the win over Meaghan Pohlner and Anna Exell (8-4) and Violet McGennisken and Barb Crough earned the bragging rights over Emily Polak and Keeley Schultz (8-4) in the women's.

Bringing up Kalkee's first win of the day, Jordan Friberg defeated Steve Schultz (8-7) and Emily Polack banked another win for the side, beating Violet McGennisken (8-5) in the men's and women's singles, respectively, but Eli Bailey defeated Grant Schultz (8-7) and Mia Rees got the win over Meaghan Pohlner (8-3) to continue flying the flag for St Michaels.

Finally, in the last double matches, Kalkee recorded a couple of wins, with Anna Exell and Keeley Schultz getting the better of Kassie Peachey and Barb Crough (8-7) and Emily Polack and Anna Excell defeating Violet McGennisken and Kassie Peachy (8-4), but victories to Peter Hayes and Chris Ellis (against Luke Byrne and Matthew Magee 8-5), Steve Schultz and Chris Ellis (over Jordan Friberg and Matthew Magee 8-2), Mia Rees and Barb Crough (against Emily Polack and Keeley Schultz 8-7) and Eli Bailey and Peter Hayes (over Grant Schultz and Luke Byrne 8-6) secured St Michael the outright win.

Central Park also had success on Saturday, earning the win over Horsham Lawn 11-3.

In a display of dominance, Central Park claimed all but one of the doubles matches initially, with the exception being the contest between Lachlan Punchard and his doubles partner, who defeated Matt Jones and Brendan Nitschke (8-6).

In other opening doubles matches, Harry Allan and Reece Harman got the win against August Koch and D’Artagnan Walls (8-4), Willow Sainsbury and Sienna Nitschke outplayed Lydi Boyd and Ella Thompson (8-3) and Adele Joseph and Eve Wear accounted for Daniella Gilespie and Maree Thompson (8-1).

In the men's singles, Central Park's Harry Allan and Matt Jones both had wins, 8-0 and 8-1, respectively, while in the singles for the women, Willow Sainsbury accounted for Lydi Boyd 8-2, and Adele Joseph defeated Daniella Gillespie (8-0).

D'Artagnan Walls and Lachlan Punchard for Horsham Lawn broke the trend in the first match of doubles, claiming the win over Reece Harman and Brendan Nitschke 8-4, while D'Artagnan Walls and his doubles partner backed up the performance later on in the schedule, defeating Matt Jones and Reece Harman 8-7.

Central Park got the points in all other doubles matches though, with Sienna Nitschke and Eve Wear beating Ella Thompson and Maree Thompson (8-5), Harry Allan and Brendan Nitschke better than August Koch and Lachlan Punchard (8-6), Willow Sainsbury and Eve Wear getting a clean sweep against Lydi Boyd and Maree Thompson (8-0) and Adele Joseph and Sienna Nitschke defeating Daniella Gillespie and Ella Thompson (8-4).

St Michaels 10-103 defeated Kalkee 4-79 and Central Park 11-105 defeated Horsham Lawn 3-50.

Brimpaen 11-105 defeated Natimuk 3-65; Homers 4-81 defeated by Central Park 10-92, and Horsham Lawn Dorman 12-106 defeated Drung South 2-43.

Horsham Lawn Ahern 8-79 defeated Horsham Lawn McGennisken 4-69; Central Park 9-85 defeated St Michaels 3-65; Haven Red 8-82 defeated Horsham Lawn Tigers 4-59, and Haven Blue 8-85 defeated Homers 4-74.

Laharum 12-80 defeated Natimuk 4-48; Horsham Lawn Bardell 8-77 defeated Haven 8-63, and Central Park 8-72 defeated Horsham Lawn Savage 8-68.

Central Park Yellow 3-25 defeated Central Park White 3-24; Central Park Orange 4-34 defeated Horsham Lawn Gold 2-17, and Horsham Lawn Green 1-22 defeated by Central Park Blue 5-31.

Horsham Lawn Green 3-27 defeated Haven 3-25, and Horsham Lawn White 4-32 defeated Horsham Lawn Gold 2-27.

Haven 2-23 was defeated by Horsham Lawn White 4-29, and Horsham Lawn Gold 5-33 defeated Horsham Lawn Green 1-19.

Horsham Lawn Green 4-30 defeated Haven 2-27, and Central Park 3-26 drew with Horsham Lawn Gold 3-26.

Natimuk Yellow 0-9 defeated by Haven 6-36; Homers 3-30 defeated Horsham Lawn Green 3-24; Central Park 5-33 defeated Hosham Lawn Black 1-24; Horsham Lawn Gold 1-19 defeated by Natimuk Blue 5-32, and Horsham Lawn Red 4-30 defeated Horsham Lawn White 2-23.
