Shuttle Shifters claimed landslide victory
The Horsham Badminton Association’s Winter Competition witnessed landslide victories and close clashes in both A and B Grades during the Round 8 matches on June 23 at Horsham College’s Badminton Auditorium.

Shuttle Shifter outclassed Ace Avengers in the first A Grade match by 9 sets to 1.
Brendan Nischke delivered a splendid performance, winning three doubles games and a singles game against Joel Beggs.
Subin Mathews also contributed to the team’s win by securing three doubles wins alongside teammates Amy, Daniel, and Brendan.
The Avengers’ only win comes through Clayton Duxorth and Helen Francisco’s doubles, as they beat Daniel Aitken and Avin James in a three-game set by scores of 17-21, 21-18 and 21-17.
RESULT: Shuttle Shifters defeated Ace Avengers by 9 sets to 1, 19 games to 6 and 498 to 399 total points.
In the other A Grade match, Net Ninjas claimed a victory against Racquet Rebels by 2 sets.
Johnny Joseph, Luke Dunn, and Lachie Walker gave standout performances, winning 15 games for their team compared to 10 for the Rebels.
Rebels’ Josh Dunn and Ishan Thomas gave the opponents a fight, but ultimately won only 4 sets.
The only singles of the match was claimed by Josh Dunn, beating his dad Luke Dunn by 21-23, 21-15 and 21-15.
RESULT: Net Ninjas defeated Racquet Rebels by 6 sets to 4, 15 games to 10 and 479 to 447 total points.
In the B Grade clash, Drop Shot claimed victory with a close margin against Clear Shot.
Lea Maier’s three doubles win was the highlight of the match, as she won all those sets with a clear margin.
Clear Shot’s Mark Ngoi won a doubles and only Singles of the match, but ended up on the losing side by just 1 set.
RESULT: Drop Shot defeated Clear Shot by 4 sets to 3, 9 games to 7 and 304 to 282 total points.
In the next court, Volley was almost driven by the Drive, but ultimately won by 1 set.
Volley’s Noime Powell won three doubles for her side alongside different partners, and then Whitney O’Sullivan and Deni Dominic claimed the fourth set to jump on the winning stand.
Drive’s Rohan Austin and Tojo Joseph were the prominent performers from their side, claiming more total points than the opponents.
RESULT: Volley defeated Drive by 4 sets to 3, 9 games to 7, and 291 to 302 total points.
