McPherson’s 75 rescues Eagles

Former WMCA rivals faced off against in round 13 of the Horsham Cricket Association.

At Jeffcott Oval, Brim KSH elected to bat but struggled early, finding it difficult to score runs as they fell to 4/23 in the 14th over.

A critical 79-run partnership between Isaac McPherson and Fletcher Bright (34) helped reset the Eagles’ innings, with McPherson eventually falling for 75 before his side was dismissed for 156 late in the day.

For Donald Jeffcott, Cooper Anderson led the way with 5/35 from 19 overs, while Nicholas Atkins had 2/21.

Anderson (10 not out) and Dylan Ruurds (8 not out) saw the home side reach 0/18 at stumps.

At Murtoa Recreation Reserve, St Mary’s elected to bat against the Mudlarks, who had the visitors at 3/21 early.

But strong middle-order innings from Nathan Priest (49), Kael Zanker (46) and Lincoln Westerland (43), as well as 27 from Nicholas Germano, helped St Mary’s produce one of their best batting performances, as they were eventually bowled out for 210.

Oliver Garth Lindsay led Lubeck Murtoa with 5/42 from 17 overs, while Finnina Delahunty helped bowl the visitors out to finish with 2/3.

The Mudlarks will resume day two at 0/3 after surviving one over at the end of the day.

Fresh from an extraordinary 12/28 bowling performance in round 12, Rup-Minyip’s Jake McKenzie took another five-wicket haul on Saturday to give the Panthers total control in their B grade match against St Mary’s.

Playing at Minyip Recreation Reserve, the Panthers elected to bowl, and Jake McKenzie immediately struck, claiming three wickets in his first over.

Callum Zanker (29) and Oscar Allot (12) helped St Mary’s finish with a respectable 66 are reeling at 4/5 early.

McKenzie finished with 5/28, while Scott McCurdy had 4/16.

In reply, the Panthers easily claimed first innings points, finishing stumps at 5/237.

Nicholas Hudson led the way with 72 not out, with strong contributions from Hugh Weidemann (48) and Brent Hudson (34 not out).

Travis Harris led St Mary’s with the ball with figures of 2/35.

At Brim Recreation Reserve, the Colts secured first innings points late in the day against the Eagles.

The visitors elected to bowl and despite a quickfire 50 from Srikanth Reddy Kasaram, Brim KSH were bowled out for 79.

Colts skipper Beau Purchase finished with 5/35, while Ross Frew bowled a very economical 2/3 from 10 overs.

Drew Carmody (26) and Steven Harrison (22) led the Colts early, but the side continued to lose regular wickets.

James McNeil hit a six in the final over of the day to ensure the Colts claimed first innings points, reaching 6/82 at stumps.

Jordan McPherson (3/23) took three late wickets for the Eagles, while Mark McPherson has 2/16.
