McIntyre sinks hole in one
Brent McIntyre has achieved one of the ultimate golfing milestones at Horsham Golf Club, hitting a hole in one on the 11th hole.

Playing alongside Matt Jakobi, Lisa Jakobi and Sarah Magor in the club’s stableford event on Sunday February 21, McIntyre said the shot felt good off the tee but he didn’t think he would ever get a hole in one.
“I never thought I would get one,” McIntyre said.
“I’ve been playing since I was 16 and I’ve hit the flag a few times; there’s been a couple of occasions where it’s been a few inches short but never went in.”
“Once every so often you seem to hit one out of the screws, so as soon as I hit it, it felt good.
“She landed a couple of metres short and just trickled in.”
In a unique coincidence, McIntyre was the only one in his playing group who witnessed the feat.
“It is a bit of a funny story: I’m the only one who saw it go in,” McIntyre said.
“It was a warm day so the ladies were sitting under the shade and didn’t get to see it.
“Matt Jakobi, who’s hit four hole in ones and I’ve seen them all, was having trouble trying to get a tee out of his pocket and he missed seeing it.
“I’ve said ‘Get in, get in, yes!’ and he goes ‘Did you get a hole in one? I didn’t even see it.
“We were jumping around; it was funny.”
McIntyre also finished first in the A grade stableford, capping off a fantastic day on the course.
An avid golfer, McIntyre said he hoped to get closer to his previous handicap of one now that he had finished playing football.
“I previously got my handicap down to one quite a few years ago,” McIntyre said.
“But then I got back into football again and it has hovered around the five to seven mark.
“I wouldn’t really play for six or seven months because of footy, so you just don’t get the practice or the consistency, which I’m hoping to get more of now that I’ve finished football.”
