May Day draws field from near and far
Fifty-four players from 14 clubs have contested this year's May Day event at Warracknabeal Golf Club.

Representing Horsham, Midlands, Buninyong, Rainbow, Minyip, Sheep Hills, Brim, Jeparit, Hopetoun, Kaniva, Birchip, Bacchus March, St Arnaud and Warracknabeal, the field enjoyed fine golfing conditions.
The major prize, sponsored by Warrack Home Timber & Hardware, was won by Wendy Hewitt and Sharon Howden, from Warracknabeal and Horsham, with a score of 66 1/8.
Janice Midgley and Jenny Palmer from Minyip and Buninyong were the runners-up, on 74 6/8 net.
Third place went to Horsham's Helen Burke and Marg Rich with 75 7/8 net.
Both prizes were donated by Maree Heenan, Vicki Hinkley and Beth Preston.
Julie Bayles and Sue Sanford, shooting 87, were the winners of the scratch event, sponsored by Wendy Hewitt.
In novelty events sponsored by Warracknabeal Golf Club, nearest-the-pins went to Wendy Hewitt of Warracknabeal on the 5th, Sharon Howden of Horsham on the 7th and Beth Preston of Jeparit on the 13th.
Jenny Edelston of Rainbow won the second shot on the 9th hole.
The straightest drive was by Jenny Palmer of Buninyong.
Wendy Hewitt and Carolyn Morcom, both of Warracknabeal, had the longest drives in division one and two respectively.
The winning team with a score of 147 4/8 was Carolyn Morcom, Lisa Jakobi, Wendy Hewitt and Sharon Howden.
