Hot Air balloon record attempt
LIFTING off from Rainbow on a Sunday morning was a hot air balloon with its sole occupant intent on breaking a record in distance travelled.
Pictured is sport balloonist, Damian Gilchrist with Rainbow locals, Simone Clark and Tony Clark, with balloon crew chief, Mark Strang. Damian said he learned how to fly hot air balloons in the Air Force – he was a fast jet flight instructor but moved to the balloons they use as a community engagement tool in 2009.
