Gebert, Walter crowned champions
Lewis Gebert and Sue Walter are the 2026 club champions for Horsham Golf Club, claiming victory in the fourth and final round on Saturday, March 28.
Heading into the final day of the men’s A grade championship, Gebert and Brett Cookson shared the lead (218) heading into the final round, with Nick Thomson and Casey Schmidt five and eight shots behind, respectively.
But a dominant final round of 70 from Gebert saw him claim a comfortable win.
Speaking right after his winning round, Gebert was pleased with his performance to take out the championship, his third at the club.
“It feels pretty good; it’s good to get a win,” Gebert said.
“I feel like I hit it pretty well; just tee to ground pretty solid.
“I don’t think I did much wrong out there, so that’s always good.”
In the women’s championship, Sue Walter began the day with a one-shot lead over Tracey Hobbs, with Clair Orcutt and Amanda Brownsea further behind.
Walter scored 89 to hold on for the victory, and also took out the Puss Smith Trophy.
Among the other standout performances from the day, David Baker took out the Ken Breuer Seniors Trophy, as well as winning the men’s Intermediate Nett.
