Failure to restore the superphosphate bounty will perpetuate a destructive decision and foster the most serious consequences.

Mr Peter Fisher, MHR, said this from Canberra yesterday.
“When a federal cabinet makes a decision, it will hold in its hand not just the immediate welfare of farmers, but much wider and more significant considerations,” he said.
Mr Fisher said the superphosphate bounty was not just another handout, but a basic factor in the future pattern of agricultural production in this country.
“It’s benefits are multiplied many times throughout the community,
It has implications for the major industries based on production and application of fertiliser - industries which have almost collapsed in recent months - and for the basic fertility and productiveness of Australia’s soils.”
Beulah earn another crack at hopetoun in big final
Beulah finished too strongly for Woomelang/Lascelles and won the preliminary final at Brim by 21 points.
Early in the game the accuracy of the Combine forwards kept them in front and at the half way mark they led by 18 points.
Beulah came back strongly in the third quarter and a goal on the siren gave them a two point lead, the first time they had been in front since late in the first quarter.
Four quick foals early in the last term gave Beulah their first real break in the game and from this point they were able to dictate the terms of the game although their opponents fought the issues right out.
One move that had a big bearing on the result was the placing of Trevor Bell in the center at the start of the third term.
Beulah lost their regular centreman Peter Hallam early in the game and Combine centreman Richie Doran gave a lot of drive until Bell went into the pivot.
