Yarriambiack Shire Council is seeking community feedback on its Draft Sport and Active Recreation Strategy which will serve as a blueprint for facility management, programs and events.

The 10-year municipal strategic plan supports an outcomes-based approach, which focuses on a concrete result, not the process required to achieve it, and aims to develop more community sport and active recreation infrastructure within the shire.

Residents are encouraged to have their say on a new funding formula, and will have the opportunity to identify key projects they believe will result in better health and wellbeing in the community.

Yarriambiack CEO Tammy Smith said council wanted to support sports and recreation in the community by providing diverse and accessible opportunities and infrastructure.

"Seven principles have been developed as part of the strategy,” Ms Smith said.

"As our demographics, and the nature of organised sport and physical activity, change, it's important that we plan for the future, and continue to drive positive health and wellbeing outcomes for all our residents."

Ms Smith urged residents to fill out the online feedback form, including ranking the prioritisation of funding for recreation reserves and swimming pools.

"Particularly, in relation to prioritising funding for an Olympic-size (50 metre) pool, pool sizes in general, and the town population and usage," Ms Smith said.

The Draft Sport and Active Recreation Strategy can be found at www.yarriambiack.vic.gov.au/Engage-With-Us/Share-Your-Feedback

Residents can share their feedback until 5pm on Friday, June 21.
