Aytar's second hat-trick guides senior Falcons to first win
Sedat Aytar has secured his second hat-trick in as many weeks, as the Horsham Falcons senior team stormed to their first win of the season, a 4-3 victory against the Stawell Pioneers at Dudley Cornell Reserve in round 14 of the South West Victorian Football Association.
It was a tight first half, with the scores level at 2-2 at halftime. Halfway through the second half, Stawell scored their first goal through Horsham player Oluwatosin Ogunoye, who was filling in for Stawell. Horsham scored two in the last five minutes. The equalizer was Aytar's hat-trick.
Horsham junior coach Gavin McRoberts said it was unbelievable.
"It's absolutely brilliant, and we couldn't ask for much more to have gone this far into the season to get a win finally," McRoberts said.
"It's a major boost for the guys, and they will step up from here in the last two rounds, and hopefully, we can secure another victory before the season is out.
"Stawell didn't have enough players and only arrived with nine, so as we had a few extras, some of our guys filled in for them to make it a proper game."
McRoberts added that Sedat's second hat-trick in as many weeks was unbelievable.
"It's unbelievable. He wasn't a happy boy during the game, as he missed many opportunities, but the boys fought hard all day. It was a tough match, and he managed to slot three through."
Oguzhan Kocak was another standout for the Falcons, and in defence, Bee See Maw Kay and Pway Nay Kaw Wah both played sensationally.
At North Park in Stawell, the under-14s had a day to forget, losing 19-0 to the Warrnambool Rangers Teal side, who are top of the ladder with 9 wins and one loss. It would always be hard against the side that has only conceded five goals in 10 games.
The Falcons under-12s had a bye.
In the under-17s, the Stawell Pioneers lost 1-4 against the Warrnambool Wolves, and the Pioneers under-14s team lost 8-0 to the Portland Panthers.
